The new bluetooth standard use 802.11 (same as wifi) and dramatically improve the transfer speed when used between two bluetooth 3.0 devices. But also, switch back to the old standard to save battery life when needed. The new 3.0 standard is backwards compatible to older versions.

The best part is that it wont take a long time to see devices using this new communication standard on the market.
