Internet Explorer 9
Jun 24th
A new video of a demo just appeared on youtube, regarding some tests of HTML5 integration in the next version of Microsoft’s own browser, Internet Explorer 9.
IE8 right now is the last thing you want to use on the net, and probably the last browser that appeared recently and does not support new technologies.
The next version of IE, will also bring hardware acceleration, and that is a pretty nice thing, the damn thing is even faster then chrome in some instances (at least until Google integrates hardware acceleration in Chrome too).
Here is the video of some tests, and i must admit that things are going smooth with this next Internet Explorer. Also you can download and try it yourself from Microsoft’s IE Test Drive site. More >
Looking forward to the future
May 19th
When a new version of windows comes in mind, the community is again flooded with opinions and thoughts about the products to come from Microsoft, may it be a server, client OS and even Office version.
The next big version of Windows, supposedly named Windows 8, is in track for a summer 2011 launch. Even if this is possible to some extend, i still find it hard to believe. The latest news regarding the so-called Windows 8 are that it will be a major change related to what’s in the market right now. More >
Current state of 4G mobile technology and its objectives
Mar 29th
Not long ago the GPRS technology was the fastest out there when related to a mobile device using a carrier. 3G really got mainstream in the last years and as the reliability went up and coverage got better, the cost got lower bringing the whole idea of mobile Internet affordable for the most of the people.
When talking about 4G, the main point is not the speed of the link, sure the speed will be much much better, but that’s not the main idea, as 3G networks got to a mainstream level (thanks to the iPhone and the new Android devices) network congestion is the bigger problem. ( AT&T )
4G refers to all IP packet switched networks and increases in data speeds, eventually decreasing the congestion risk.
One of the other objectives of a 4G IP based network is a data rate of at least 100 Mbit/s between any two points in the world with a moving station vs. the tower and 1Gbit/s in a stationary station, high quality – real time HD streaming of audio and video content and the next generation media services. Full VoIP as standard, with much better audio quality and video call integration, better roaming world-wide and much more.
In December 2009, Sprint began advertising 4G service in selected cities in the United States, despite maximum download speeds of only 10Mbit/s
In my opinion this radical mobile technology won’t be mainstream for another 3 years or so, but miracles can happen, i just find it fascinating to have a 100Mbit/s link to the Internet in my pocket.
Windows 7 : 90 million copies sold
Mar 3rd
Microsoft just announced via @microsoft twitter account that the latest version of Windows, Windows 7 is a success (but that’s well known by now, related to the Vista problems and downgrading users in the first year) and that they sold 90 million copies to date.
Merit well earned, the public reception was great for Windows 7 and will continue to do so in my opinion.
How to disable Google Buzz
Feb 18th
![]()
Since Google introduced it’s new twitter-like platform of sharing ideas and links and soon enough a new marketing opportunity, some users started to worry about the privacy of this Buzz thing.
Well for all those who are worried, Google has a new option to disable the whole Buzz, delete posts, delete personal profile and all the people you were following via Google Buzz.
I personally find Buzz kind of useless, i mean if Google wanted so bad a twitter like platform, they could have bought Twitter, and yes…if someone had the money and capability to develop the service in the future, it’s Google.
The Buzz “Kills switch” is located in the Gmail settings panel, the last tab of it. More >
Opera Mini for iPhone
Feb 10th

One of the world’s most controversial browser is Opera, the browser that all blamed for the request they made to Microsoft last year to pull Internet Explorer from the default Windows 7 installation; sure this was madness and never approved in the end.
The latest Opera 10.50 Alpha is kind of impressive as speed and features and I must admit the minimalistic default looks always attracted me in computer software.
Now to get back on the subject, Opera just announced that they are working on the iPhone version of the worlds most used browser on Nokia phones (Opera Mini). What does this mean ? This means another Apple-Opera-User fight for the intended use of the device and so on. I am curious about this ever coming to the iPhone that easy, I mean Apple knows how to make users stay with Safari, just like they knew how to reject the Google Voice app from the app store not long ago last year because it “mimics something the phone does already”.
Maybe opera stands a chance but I just can’t imagine Apple allowing users to use another browser then Safari. I sure hope all the best and I want to see this Opera Mini for iPhone out.
Google Buzz, iPhone captures
Feb 10th

Google just lunched a new product, or better call it a service for the users. Google buzz is a way you can communicate your ideas, share what you find interesting or just say hi!. Overall it’s just another twitter micro-blogging platform.
The service is available for desktop users as well as mobile users (i tried it on my iPhone). Up to this moment, not everyone has the buzz feature in gmail. But Google announced they are pushing the feature to all users as soon as possible.
I like the idea but can’t seam to understand why someone would go to this platform when twitter is there for long time and has all this apps and ecosystem around it that got to a point where people use the world “tweet” as part of the daily talk.
But moving right along, i find the idea interesting and it asks for a try, so if you did not tried it yet, go to http://www.google.com/buzz and give it a try now…maybe you are one of the lucky users that got it sooner then others. More >

Going from 2009 to 2010
Jan 2nd
![]()
So as days rolled by, another year passed, some of the important things we saw last year; software and hardware improvements and updates, will continue to grow and grow this year and the next and so on.
So, 2009 was the year of the Windows 7 OS release, also Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard was released this year. Apple’s iPhone 3GS and new line of iPods.
We saw the projects Google is working on, Google Chrome and Chrome OS, Google Wave, new google.com search page, and many more.
Also mobile phones and mobile computers got to the point where the speed is far more superior then what was possible in 2008.
Intel’s new Nehalem architecture is now affordable, and notebooks started using the mobile i7 cpu.
Nokia also introduced new mobile phones like Nokia 6700 and the high end N-series releases.
The cigarets got more expensive, from 1,7 euro to 2,59 euro (good time to quit smoking in romania), and I got a new computer and new widescreen flat-panel.
Hope for a better year in 2010.
Intel Core i5 CPU’s , what about ?
Sep 21st

New CPU’s, new socket, new Core i5, and soon (Celeron replacement) core i3 and high end 6-core, core i9.
The i7 series when introduced was a big upgrade even to the high end quad-core cpu’s. The core i7 is still one of the best things money can buy and technology can produce.
The Core i5 is the medium performance in a good-better-best style of products.
On September 8, 2009, Intel released the first Core i5 processor named “Core i5 750″ clocked at 2.66 GHz in a quad-core. More >
