iPhone OS 4.0 event on April 8
Apr 6th
After a glorious day for Apple and the iPad, a new announcement has been made regarding the next big update to the iPhone OS.
The event is set to take place on April 8 and it will include a presentation of the new iPhone software and maybe some hints on the hardware to come. This is alone very exciting, but as Apple always does, nothing will get on our hands at least not so fast. The next iPhone is probably going to be released in 2-3 months time, and the new software around that time too.
iPhone OS4 is said to bring multitasking and a UI refresh as major features, i’m sure that only the latest hardware will take advantage of multitasking as the 3G and 2G versions of the phone are slow and outdated to keep up with more processes.
The curios thing for me is the new UI, as the whole ecosystem is based on the right-now look of the OS.
On the other hand, the iPad had a big success, at least on it’s first days, the apps are starting to get better and optimized for the iPad.
The road to the iPad
Apr 3rd
Apple’s long awaited device is 5 hours away from launch in the US. Until now, some apps started to appear in the app store, some only for the iPad and some for iPhone and iPad.
A new version of iTunes was released specially to include support for the iPad and the new apps. A 899$ app is already on the store.
Yhe U.S. Federal Communications Commission has published some photos with the interior of the device, Google rolled out a new iPad-formatted mobile interface for Gmail, building on the HTML5-based mobile format used for the iPhone to create a two-column interface like that used for Apple’s Mail application on the iPad.
Overall the iPad had a wide reach and people overall are interested about the product. Lots of pre-orders have been made on the apple site, and lots of people are going to receive the device in the coming days.
Full screen captures of the device are also available online ,here is a little taste of the new market segment opened by Apple with the iPad. More >
Opera Mini for iPhone
Feb 10th

One of the world’s most controversial browser is Opera, the browser that all blamed for the request they made to Microsoft last year to pull Internet Explorer from the default Windows 7 installation; sure this was madness and never approved in the end.
The latest Opera 10.50 Alpha is kind of impressive as speed and features and I must admit the minimalistic default looks always attracted me in computer software.
Now to get back on the subject, Opera just announced that they are working on the iPhone version of the worlds most used browser on Nokia phones (Opera Mini). What does this mean ? This means another Apple-Opera-User fight for the intended use of the device and so on. I am curious about this ever coming to the iPhone that easy, I mean Apple knows how to make users stay with Safari, just like they knew how to reject the Google Voice app from the app store not long ago last year because it “mimics something the phone does already”.
Maybe opera stands a chance but I just can’t imagine Apple allowing users to use another browser then Safari. I sure hope all the best and I want to see this Opera Mini for iPhone out.
Apple iPad’s 3 minutes of fame [Video]
Feb 2nd

If you watched Apple’s keynote presented by Steve Jobs, i think you sense a little what I’m making fun of here, if not, it’s still damn funny to hear Steve Jobs and the developers at apple talk so nice and beautiful about a device that’s not even in the market, but hey, i already said i’ll get one of these iPad things. Enjoy the video… More >
Apple tablet – iSlate ?
Dec 26th

Macrumors found an interesting website whois record showing that Apple once owned the domain name “iSlate.com”, a possibly hint towards the name of Apple’s new tablet. The domain information has since been changed to “Mark Monitor” a company that protects trademark domains from being taken.
The tablet device, whatever the name will be, is probably going to show up next year around january-february, so keep an eye on this matter and we might see some evidence (software / hardware)
No Internet Explorer in european version of Windows 7
Jun 13th

The most popular web browser software , Microsoft’s “Internet Explorer” is not going to be included in the european version of the next big Windows release , Windows 7 . The cause seams to be the european regulations that decided that Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 8 being anti-competitive in the browser market.
Probably the user will have a ballot screen like the one where you chose the default search provider and other settings, but this time you will chose the browser you wish to use. More >
