Windows 7 RTM now on MSDN and Technet

As of today, Windows 7 is available to download from Microsoft’s tech websites, MSDN and Technet. There is the standard version of Windows 7 ,and the enterprise versions too.
Currently the only language is English, but more versions will come soon and the “Starter” version of Windows 7 too. So get your browsers pointed to MSDN or Technet now and get the official Windows 7 RTM.
The final version for us, the rest, will be available on October 22 this year.

Steven Sinofsky : “today after all the validation checks were met, we signed off and declared build 7600.16385 as RTM.” So there you have it people. Windows 7 testing and hassle it’s over, even if it was fun while it lasted. Now the windows team is pushing to the SP1 fixes and improvements.
Technet and MSDN subscribers will have access to the Windows 7 RTM on August 6.
I’m waiting to see the mass of people react to a windows version that is 80% vista in design.

A couple of days ago, Windows 7 build 7600 surfaced on the net as the “RTM” but wait, after just one day, a new build 7600 with a new sub build appeared. Probably another will be out soon. A well known Russian site just announced that Microsoft’s latest operating system just got to the RTM phase, now following general availability after October 22 this year.
The final build string could be 7600.16384.090710-1945 and as you see from this number,it was compiled on 10 July 2009, 2 days ago to be more specific. More >
Windows 7 build 7227 leaked

It looks like for some time now , every new week brings another Windows 7 build leak , this one we have 7227 , or the full string 7227.0.winmain_sp.090602-2110 . This build is just a little over a week old and brings the classic “optimization of the code”
From the russian site Wzor , between june 10 and 15th the last build will be distributed to the corporate partners, 6.1.7229.0.winmain.090604-1901 . After that , Microsoft will start compiling only RTM candidates.
Windows 7 Build 7201 leaked

Another week, another build , this one is 7201.0.winmain_win7ids_sp.090601-2255 . The build is 3 days old and just as usual, brings optimization to the code and few left bugs. Microsoft announced officially that the final RTM build will be widely available around 22 October and the RTM code will be finalized in late July. More >
Windows 7 build 7137 in the wild

After not long time from the build 7127 leak , we have another one. The build is available on the torrent sites and presents no visual change, at this point , Windows 7 is close to RTM more then ever and it’s only for bug correction and general code optimization.
There were rumors about Windows 7 build 7140 , that stated it will be some major graphic changes, and to be sincere, a lot of them would be well welcomed. More >
Windows 7 build 7127 leaked

This is the second RTM branch build to leek after Build 7106 , it was compiled little over a week ago and it shows Microsoft’s path to RTM (probably this summer).
So, if you have the time and interest , go now for ” 7127.0.090507-1820 ” , the new string for the leaked build.
