Internet Explorer 9
Jun 24th
A new video of a demo just appeared on youtube, regarding some tests of HTML5 integration in the next version of Microsoft’s own browser, Internet Explorer 9.
IE8 right now is the last thing you want to use on the net, and probably the last browser that appeared recently and does not support new technologies.
The next version of IE, will also bring hardware acceleration, and that is a pretty nice thing, the damn thing is even faster then chrome in some instances (at least until Google integrates hardware acceleration in Chrome too).
Here is the video of some tests, and i must admit that things are going smooth with this next Internet Explorer. Also you can download and try it yourself from Microsoft’s IE Test Drive site. More >
Windows 7 : 90 million copies sold
Mar 3rd
Microsoft just announced via @microsoft twitter account that the latest version of Windows, Windows 7 is a success (but that’s well known by now, related to the Vista problems and downgrading users in the first year) and that they sold 90 million copies to date.
Merit well earned, the public reception was great for Windows 7 and will continue to do so in my opinion.

Going from 2009 to 2010
Jan 2nd
![]()
So as days rolled by, another year passed, some of the important things we saw last year; software and hardware improvements and updates, will continue to grow and grow this year and the next and so on.
So, 2009 was the year of the Windows 7 OS release, also Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard was released this year. Apple’s iPhone 3GS and new line of iPods.
We saw the projects Google is working on, Google Chrome and Chrome OS, Google Wave, new google.com search page, and many more.
Also mobile phones and mobile computers got to the point where the speed is far more superior then what was possible in 2008.
Intel’s new Nehalem architecture is now affordable, and notebooks started using the mobile i7 cpu.
Nokia also introduced new mobile phones like Nokia 6700 and the high end N-series releases.
The cigarets got more expensive, from 1,7 euro to 2,59 euro (good time to quit smoking in romania), and I got a new computer and new widescreen flat-panel.
Hope for a better year in 2010.
Install Windows 7 from USB flash drive
Dec 11th

Windows 7 installation is easy and very intuitive, you just pop in the DVD and boot the computer with the dvd drive as the first boot device, but sometimes is not that simple, Windows 7 was made to run smooth not only on full featured PC’s and notebooks, but netbooks too. The netbook trend is getting bigger and bigger by the day. One thing these small computers lack is the optical drive. The only way to install an OS is via USB flash drives. Well if you are into doing this, it’s your lucky day.
There is a new software at http://wudt.codeplex.com/ made specially to create bootable USB flash drives with Windows from an .iso disk image. More >
The end of Vista, the start of Windows 7
Oct 23rd

As you all know, 22 October marked the official release date for Windows 7 RTM to the public. We, i also know that a lot of people use Windows 7 as main OS for some months now and will continue to do so.
Windows 7 has been completed some time ago and today it is available to all who want this upgrade, and trust me , if you are sick of XP, Vista doesn’t cut it anymore, you must at least try Windows 7.
The problems are extremely few to none, and as i said some time ago, majority of Vista’s problems came from poor drivers and poor software updating to take advantage of the new features included then.
Windows 7 works perfectly with the vista drivers and not only that but from what I’ve seen, 80% of manufactures offer drivers for vista/7 in a single pack and that is pretty cool.
I am now using Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and works like a charm, and it did so from some time now. Much faster and snappier in some areas (when compared to vista).
Vista is still more “mature” and that’s understandable for a OS that got to it’s 2′nd service pack.
If you are interested on this matter , go to TechSpot and read the “What You Need To Know” article about Windows 7.
In my opinion, this is a nice update. I’m curious about what impression will it create for the masses of PC-using people out there.

Windows 7 prices lower then Vista
Jun 26th

Microsoft announced the prices for the next version of windows… Windows 7. As you all know , the last build leaked is 7260 and from the tag of the VHD, this is RTM branch now. I used it for 2 days now after updating from other builds and it feels fresh, hard to put in to words, the thing feels good, that’s what I’m trying to say here.
So, without any more blah-blah, here are the prices ,including the pre-order discount ones. More >
Windows 7 build 7232 and the new wallpaper
Jun 16th

Another build is in the wild, the string is 7232.0.amd64fre.winmain.090610-1900.client_en-us.ultimate and the image is a virtual hard disk one. This build includes a new wallpaper ,the default one that replaces the fish in the beta builds.
Microsoft is pushing real hard on the marketing side with Windows 7 from what i see and well, they are doing a good job on it , Windows 7 deserves something better then the way Vista was treated by the general consumers. More >
No Internet Explorer in european version of Windows 7
Jun 13th

The most popular web browser software , Microsoft’s “Internet Explorer” is not going to be included in the european version of the next big Windows release , Windows 7 . The cause seams to be the european regulations that decided that Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 8 being anti-competitive in the browser market.
Probably the user will have a ballot screen like the one where you chose the default search provider and other settings, but this time you will chose the browser you wish to use. More >
